MLS All-Star Game History
The MLS All-Star Game has been held annually since the MLS was formed. The previous eleven MLS All-Star Games have had a variety of formats from the Eastern Division players playing the Western Division players to matchups based on nationality. The 2006 MLS All Star matchup with Chelsea FC indicates that MLS are heading towards playing more major foreign teams. Other annual MLS soccer competitions include the MLS Cup.
The 2006 MLS All Star Game made history being the lowest scoring game and the first shutout in MLS All-Star history when the MLS All-Stars defeated Chelsea FC 1-0 at Toyota Park. This was the 4th game using the current format where a single MLS side takes on a club or national team and MLS remains unbeaten, untied, and having defeated the US Mens National team, CD Guadalajara, and Fulham FC in previous matchups.
