MLS History
Major League Soccer, MLS is the top soccer league in the US. It is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, USSF, US Soccer, which is a member of FIFA. The MLS was formed in 1993 and began playing in 1996 with ten teams divided in two divisions, the Eastern Conference and Western Conference. The MLS currently has twelve teams, and plans to expand in 2007 adding Toronto FC, the first non US team in the MLS. Annual MLS soccer competitions include the MLS All-Star Game and MLS Cup.
